Bayon temple was built in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII as a part of the expansion of the capital of Angkor Thom. Bayon was located in the heart of the royal city. It is also the only national temple in Angkor Complex which was built primarily for Mahayana Buddhism, dedicated to worship Buddha. After the death of King Jayavarman, Bayon was remodeled by Hinduism. Ta Prohm Temple
